A Documentary About Men and Gender Violence

We can’t end men’s violence against women unless we understand the historical, cultural, and institutional tolerance for violent and exploitive behavior based on gender. From the early stages of male development, boys are bombarded with messages about sexuality, conquest, and violence.

With Impunity engages the thinking of leading historians, sociologists, and practitioners to examine our past, cultural realities, and options for ending gender-based violence. Watch it at TPT.org.

About ECT

How is it possible that year-after-year, decade-after-decade, so many women and girls are victims of sexual assault, domestic homicide, battering, honor killing, gang rape, genital mutilation, and sex trafficking?

We can’t end men’s violence against women unless we understand our history. We can’t end men’s violence unless we begin to chip away at the institutional and structural support that allows gender-based violence to continue with impunity.

We can change our culture! Through film, curricula, community dialogues, national and international training, ECT in collaboration with other organizations confronts gender-based violence and human rights violations.

• curriculum

  DVD, tools, and resources to support community, professional leadership development, and school presentations based on the With Impunity documentary. Available November 2012.

• Lectures

  Michael Paymar, who co-developed With Impunity with Ellen Pence, and is the author of the book Violent No More: Helping Men End Domestic Abuse, is available for speaking engagements featuring With Impunity screenings, and lectures and discussions based on the film.

Stay in the Loop

Education for Critical Thinking (ECT) is producing cutting edge educational materials and training on gender-based violence. The curriculum With Impunity: Men and Gender Violence will be available November 2012.

Michael Paymar, who co-developed With Impunity: Men and Gender Violence with Ellen Pence, and is the author of the book Violent No More: Helping Men End Domestic Abuse, will be embarking on a national tour in the summer of 2013, showing the documentary and leading discussions on the film.
